Celebrating the Voices and Leadership of Our Community
Every year, MLatino Media celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month with a new season of feature interviews in the original series “Yo. Un Latino en Minnesota.”
In 2026, the series turns its attention to Latino leaders whose presence, work, and voices have helped shape Minnesota communities—particularly during moments that have challenged, tested, and brought greater attention to the experiences of our communities.
This year, “Yo. Un Latino en Minnesota” recognizes individuals who have remained engaged and visible in their communities through the years, as well as those whose voices have become especially important during difficult times. Their work may take many forms: advocating for justice, defending the rights and dignity of others, creating opportunities, serving their neighborhoods, amplifying community concerns, educating the public, or simply being present when their communities need a voice.
To celebrate these leaders is to recognize that community impact goes beyond titles or professional accomplishments. Leadership can be found in the people who speak up, open doors, stand alongside others, create understanding, and help communities move forward. Their stories reflect perseverance, responsibility, courage, and a commitment to making Minnesota a place where Latino voices are heard and valued.

Since 2015, “Yo. Un Latino en Minnesota” has built a growing catalog of more than 40 profile interviews featuring individuals from different backgrounds and areas of influence. Each conversation provides a personal perspective on what it means to be Latino in Minnesota and offers an opportunity to explore the issues, experiences, challenges, and contributions that continue to shape our communities.
Celebrando el Mes de la Herencia Hispana, “Yo. Un Latino en Minnesota” presenta en 2026 una nueva colección de historias centradas en las voces y el liderazgo de nuestra comunidad. Desde 2015, esta iniciativa ha contado las experiencias de personas que, desde diferentes ámbitos, han contribuido a darle forma a la vida de los latinos en Minnesota.
En esta nueva edición, la serie reconoce a líderes cuya presencia y trabajo han sido significativos a través de los años, así como a quienes han levantado su voz y acompañado a sus comunidades durante momentos difíciles y de incertidumbre. Personas que trabajan por la justicia, defienden los derechos de otros, crean oportunidades, sirven a sus comunidades, informan, educan y ayudan a que nuestras historias sean escuchadas.
Más allá de cargos, profesiones o reconocimientos, “Yo. Un Latino en Minnesota” busca conocer a las personas detrás de ese liderazgo: sus experiencias, sus motivaciones y las razones que los han llevado a permanecer comprometidos con sus comunidades. Sus historias reflejan la diversidad, la perseverancia y la capacidad de los latinos para participar y contribuir activamente a la vida de Minnesota.
